Nash expects to be healthy next year

News: Lakers guard Steve Nash said he doesn’t think his back, hip and hamstring injuries will linger and expects to be at 100 percent by the time training camp rolls around, according to the team’s official website. Nash played in two of the teams 11 games, including the playoffs, due to his injuries. “I always work hard … I don’t take a lot of time off”, he said.

Analysis: Nash’s first season with the Lakers ended with him wearing street clothes, which seems a bit fitting considering how much time he missed this year. The veteran appeared in just 50 games during his first season in Los Angeles — his lowest total since the 2003-04 campaign. While he did manage to average a respectable 12.7 points, his dished out just 6.7 dimes per game. Nash is under contract with the Lakers next year but there are some major injury concerns surrounding the 39-year-old. Fantasy owners should keep an eye on his health over the summer. As long as Nash looks to be 100 percent healthy, he will likely still be worth targeting in the middle-to-late rounds of most formats next fall.
