Warriors’ Draymond Green: Near double-double in Game 1 win

Green contributed nine points (3-12 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 2-3 FT), 11 rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block over 36 minutes during Thursday’s 113-91 win over the Cavaliers in Game 1 of the NBA finals.

While he couldn’t get it going from the field, Green made his customarily superior contributions on the glass while also checking off the other boxes of the stat sheet in more modest fashion. The 27-year-old forward didn’t have to do much on offense with teammates Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry combining for 66 points, but his scoring is likely to play a key part at some point during the series. Green did see a three-game streak of double-digit point tallies snapped Thursday, but his 11 rebounds were the most he’d hauled in since Game 2 of the opening-round series versus the Trail Blazers.
